Boho Chic x Teddy Bear

If you haven’t noticed yet, I have an affinity for all things boho.

Here’s our latest creative spin on a drive-by baby shower and the story behind it.

Meet Sarahi and her husband

How beautiful is this couple?!

I came to know Sarahi through a dear client of mine. If you know me, a client is like family and I was so glad to meet her. We instantly clicked! She loved my work and I loved her style. Plus, she was becoming a mom! My heart always goes to the mothers out there.

Like so many pregnant mamas out there, Sarahi has a story that I feel is worth sharing. Here she is on finding out she was pregnant and her journey after:

“ Although my husband and I always wanted to be parents someday, never in a million years did we think it would come in a time such as this. We were surprised with the news that a little life was forming inside me on the day of my grandfather’s birthday last September. The news came with a possibility of the pregnancy not even making it due to the fact that they were worried it was ectopic and from then on it was a continuous cloud of uncertainty at every doctor’s visit.”

Can you imagine realizing that you were pregnant, only to worry that it may be fleeting? It reminds me of my own experience with my son, our firstborn. I remember something going wrong every pregnancy milestone and “failing” every test. However, in the end, it was worth it - stress, restless nights, and all. LOL. Using Sarahi’s words:

“God has a plan for our son and he has hung on to life the whole way. Through every scare and trial, our little one has persevered. He’s a fighter and we know he’s going to do great things for this world and the kingdom of God.

Such inspiring words and an amazing perspective coming from a mother-to-be, in 2021, in a pandemic! I was so privileged to bless this mama!

The Concept

A true collaboration

When Sarahi wanted to try a teddy bear theme, I was so in! We have similar styles so we vibed. We decided on a boho neutral look with just enough blue to be a baby boy shower but still fit for a queen - the mom to be =)

The Main Backdrop

We chose the circle arch with an ivory drape. One one side was a teepee and on the other side was my favorite rental piece - the peacock chair!

For the finishing touches, I added pampas, pampas, and more pampas grass! I used a white shade and 2 different textures of a more neutral color. The teddies were a gift from Sarahi’s mom. Throw in a rattan rug and some cute white boho pillows and viola!

Balloons

We decided on a color palette of neutrals, browns, and baby blues with hints of gold. Just enough color for a “boy” theme but still earthy.

Check out our very first teddy bear balloon creation!

It was so fun trying to figure this out. The base was actually the base of an Ikea lamp. LOL! I added natural chiffon ribbon in neutral shades to add a unique touch.

Florals

Or dried florals I should say. I used everything from eucalyptus to protea. I love the structure of dried palm spears so I used them as well and of course, more pampas grass!

Celebrating Baby Samuel

A new baby is always cause to celebrate.

After knowing Sarahi’s story, isn’t she is so worthy of a shower to welcome her baby boy?

“ In the middle of all this chaos that we are facing with a global pandemic, a baby shower for me was going to bring some sort of normalcy. I was going to be able to share with all my friends and family the joy and the miracle that was growing inside me. Even though it did not go as I had planned originally I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.

Jaqie out did herself bring my vision to life and it was more than what I could have asked for and imagined. We were so over joyed that we were able to enjoy the company of our loved ones in a whimsical and alluring setting created by such a talented designer. Seeing our son’s name “Samuel” there amongst all the balloons, pampas and teddies solidified the blessing that we are expecting and we can’t wait to me him! ”

I had the pleasure of photographing Sarahi after setting up and this is my favorite shot. How amazing is this photo!?

May this photo be a reminder how beautiful pregnancy can be.

I was so happy to see this design come alive but even happier to have met this woman. Thank you for the honor!

Thanks for tuning in!

Until next time!
