Tropical Floral Bridal Shower

A dreamy setup for a beloved bride to be.

When I was first asked to be a part of this bridal shower, I was so in! Jordan, one of the awesome bridesmaids, happened to find me on Instagram. I got to meet Sue, the amazing mother of the bride, and it took off from there! As I got to know more about the bride, I realized just how important this day was. This was for a loved one who helped plan everyone else’s birthday, shower, wedding - you name it! She was the epitome of the most giving friend with the biggest heart.

How do we put together the bridal shower for the one who deserved it the most?

Isn’t she stunning?!

Like so many people getting married these days, Laura has had to navigate this past year. I remember my own wedding and can’t imagine getting married now. My heart goes out to everyone out there trying to get married! I feel like when you do, it’s such a victory.

“ Just like many other brides, I had already set high expectations for this special time, especially as I’ve been a bridesmaid so many times for so many best friends (27 dresses may be a slight reflection of my 20s). So a global pandemic happening right when it’s my turn? Not the most ideal. And then there is the stress of just planning a wedding in this new normal. You’re no longer just worried about things like linens and flowers but also if the event can even happen!  Not to mention the guilt for even feeling stressed about these things, as there are many brides (including one of my own bridesmaids) who have had postponements, and at the end of the day no wedding is bigger than the global crisis going on. ”

A Love Story

Pictured here is Laura & Mike on the day of their proposal

By chance, they met 10 years ago and it’s been a beautiful journey leading up to the engagement. A true testament that love is not fleeting but steadfast. On the night they first met, “the groom told the bride that he was in love with her and was going to marry her someday. This resulted in an 8 year pursuit of the bride…the groom soldiered on, knowing that something was there between the two of them.”

On the day of the proposal, “the groom mentioned that he was so lucky most of his dreams had come true yet there was one that hadn't yet. He asked if she could make that one dream come true as well.” What an amazing way to start an engagement! Kudos to the groom! I have to say that he also helped with this shower. It was motivating to see!

Knowing their story and even Laura’s heart, we had to make this a memorable shower!

The Design

For this bridal shower, we wanted to tie in the vibe of their tropical South Carolina wedding with Laura’s love of flowers.

Florals

We used a combination of tropical and traditional with a touch of boho. The color palette was a mix of muted pinks and neutrals with hints of bright colors just like the bride’s personality.

This floral cake was made by an amazing bakery named Blue Sheep Bake Shop.

We needed a cake last minute and this shop has cakes in their case for such an occasion! There were so many awesome designs to choose from but we chose this one for her. It was perfect! Check out their Instagram here.

Balloons

The bridesmaids chose light pinks with whites, neutrals, and golds for the color palette. It turned out so well! I chose a mix of matte and pearlized balloons for each color. The muted mix of all the colors was bright yet elegant.

Here is the final design!

We added in some golden candlesticks, a simple white floral arrangement (to highlight the colorful cake), and of course - the peacock chair!

We also decorated this amazing space. Did I mention how much I love this place? The lighting and ambiance of this venue just makes anything (and anyone) look good.

Celebrating Brides in 2021

This shower was truly a collaborative effort from family and friends. It was just a group of people that wanted to love on the bride to be.

Curious to know how she received it all?

“ Now skip to Saturday March 6th, a date for so long I had no idea if it would actually happen but had a dream that it would. Probably the first event I’ve completely had no control in any form, which in itself was difficult to do. But let me tell you, my bridal shower was beyond my wildest dreams. Not only was it a beautiful and fun party but all the details were so personalized to my style!  The minute I walked in, I had a moment where I was like ‘wow, my mom and best friends actually really truly know me’. And just for a moment, I was able to just let go of all the panic and actually enjoy and celebrate me marrying the love of my life! Although many people could not make it, I never felt like I was missing out. The more intimate setting just made it all the more special. “

“And just for a moment, I was able to just let go of all the panic and actually enjoy and celebrate me marrying the love of my life!”

Receiving is just as beautiful as giving.

“ What I learned from my shower is how truly lucky I am to be surrounded by such an amazing support system. They showed up for me just like I did for them, and went above and beyond to make the day special. At the end of the day, even in times of uncertainty, love prevails and you just have to keep celebrating every way you can!”

Laura couldn’t have said it better. I definitely resonated with her amazing story. For me, it has always been easier to give than to receive. Even more-so, letting go of control. Isn’t that so hard sometimes? Not even as an event planner, but as a mother or even a friend?

For someone who pours out so much, I’m so happy to hear she enjoyed her shower. But more than that, being able to enjoy the love her friends and family wanted give.

Letting go and surrendering to life’s special moments. What a privilege it was to be a part of it! I’m so glad to have met this amazing group of people, especially our bride to be ❤
